Founded in 1978 by ceramic artist Ickyoung Kim, Wooilyo is a place for the production and sales of daily ceramics, decorations and artpieces. A master artisan appointed by the country, Kim is an artist who passionately worked next to the clay kiln for more than 50 years. Wooilyo produced a more functional, modern version of the white porcelain(baekja) made in the Joseon Dynasty, aims to keep professional touch and realise placid beauty in its artworks while seeking to blend tradition and contemporary. Also it is chosen as gifts offered to leaders of the world who visit Korea, proving to be the country's proud and representative brand. This rather small place doesn't promote itself but is considered a trustworthy place by loyal customers of long relationships.
